A new chapter, same front door

If you've been in for stamps this week, you'll have noticed nothing much has changed. Same counter. Same queue on a Friday morning. Same dogs wondering around, waiting patiently.

Behind all that, though, quite a lot has.

We've just put up a new website. It's the first time everything we do here has lived in one place, the Post Office counter, the flowers, and The Cosy Space upstairs and, seeing it written down made me realise how much this little building has taken on.

Why now

For a long time the flowers and the Post Office ran as two separate things in my head. People would come in for a parcel and be surprised there were buckets of dahlias by the door. Or they'd order a funeral tribute and have no idea we did passport forms.

It stopped making sense to keep them apart. They're not two businesses — they're one village shop that happens to do rather a lot.

So the new site says that plainly. More than a Post Office. Because that's what it is.

What you'll find on there

Funeral flowers - This is the work I care most about getting right. Everything is made without floral foam, using seasonal flowers and natural materials wherever I can. If you've ever wondered what happens to a wreath after a service, the answer is usually landfill, and it doesn't have to be. There's a page now that explains all of it properly, so you're not ringing up in the worst week of your life having to ask.

Weddings - Seasonal, British-grown, and led by whatever's actually beautiful that month rather than a mood board from January.

The Cosy Space - A corner of the shop set up for workshops and small gatherings. Somewhere to sit down for a few hours and make something with your hands.

And the Post Office itself - hours, services, all the useful dull things, in one place instead of on a laminated sign in the window.

First workshop: Autumn Pumpkin Displays

The first one is on Saturday 10 October, £45, and you can book it on the website now.

We'll be making an autumn display using pumpkins, seed heads, hips and whatever the hedgerows are offering by then. No experience needed — genuinely none. Most people who come to these have never made anything with flowers in their lives, and that's rather the point.

There are more dates coming for November and December. I'll put them up as soon as they're settled.
